CRES continues to spotlight recycling
I2017-18 n our front hall we continue to strive for waste reduction and to recycle and go green!
CRES is working with Terracycle in collecting juice pouches to recycle. We have collected 2093 juice pouches since we started collecting them in the 2014-15 school year. All grades in the school participate in collecting pouches. Students make sure that the juice is emptied and straws are taken out.
During the 2014-15 school year we recycled 566 markers. The markers will make almost two gallons of fuel! Great job everyone!
Our second graders recycle crayons by melting them down and making them into new shapes to sell at our school stores. Students can purchase the upcycled crayons with paw prints they have earned.

Our students and staff recycle
We are diligently recycling in our building at breakfast, lunch and through out the day. Our goal is to send less to our landfill. Classrooms have Recycling Captain jobs. The Recycling Captain is in charge of taking the recycled juice pouches, which are collected in a bin in each pod, to the collection center in our school. Third grade rotates this job so that every month a different class is responsible for it. All grades participates in this (440 students). Every pod also has a bin for used markers and one for used crayons that we then recycle. On Read Across America Day in 2016, all students peeled crayons so the teachers could make them into new lego shaped crayons to reuse.
