We have had the following events at our school this year: Presentation on Nuclear Energy, School-wide Assembly from Greenewit, and a Stem Night. On October 8, 2015, one of the parents at our school, Jason Mantzouranis came to our school and did a presentation on nuclear energy to the 4th and 5th grade. He also talked about his company and the drawing contest that they were sponsoring for 4th and 5th graders. The students enjoyed learning about Jason’s career in engineering. Then, on November 3, 2015, we had a school-wide assembly that was sponsored by Greenewit. The students in grades PreK to grade 5 learned about recycling, conserving energy, and how to live in a more “green” manner both in school and in their neighborhoods.

The Columbia Association had a representative talk about the programs that are available to our students families. At the end of the event, the Greenewit representative used an infrared camera to take a picture of the students and parents. The students and parents enjoyed seeing themselves glow in the photos due to the heat in their bodies that were detected by the infrared camera. Our school is planning another STEM night for March/April 2016.
